Gaffigan is most famous for his one-hour Comedy Central Specials, Beyond the Pale, including the now infamous “Hot Pocket” routine, and the recently released King Baby. He has made a number of appearances on both CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman and NBC’s Late Night. In fact, Gaffigan's weekly cartoon for Late Night With Conan O' Brien, called "Pale Force," was animated primarily by two RIT Animation Alumni, Thomas Smolenski and Brett Hall, and the backgrounds for most of Season One and all of Season Two were drawn by another RIT graphic design alumnus and adjunct professor, Peter Lazarski. Gaffigan is also recognizable for having performed in several award-winning commercials for Sierra Mist, ESPN, Saturn and Rolling Rock, earning him Business Week’s 1999 “Salesman of the Year” honor. Gaffigan has had roles on Sex and the City, Third Watch, and each of the Law & Order shows, as well as having a recurrent role on My Boys. However, Gaffigan’s appearances are not limited to television; he can be seen in several feature films, including Super Troopers, 13 Going on 30, and Thirty Years to Life, and he recently appeared in the comedy/drama Away We Go, released in June of this year.
